‘The world belongs to those who let go’
by Lao Tzu
An acupuncture treatment typically lasts from 45-60 mins, the first initial appointment will be 60-75 mins. The needles used are hair-thin sterile disposable needles that will be strategically placed at specific acupuncture points to help release the flow of Qi (energy) throughout your body, enabling your body to heal itself. Pain and disease occur when we have blocks in our meridian energy system preventing the free flow of energy or Qi.
“Let it be still, and it will gradually become clear.”
A typical acupuncture session will consist of an in-depth discussion with the patient regarding their health and wellness, checking your pulse and looking at your tongue. Your tongue is a microcosm of your body and enables the acupuncturist to see the imbalances present within your body. Checking your pulses it helps the acupuncturist to determine the quality and strength of the Qi (energy) in your meridian circuits, much like an electrician searching for any breaks, or voltage drops along a given circuit. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing abstain from any alcohol on the day of your treatment and drink plenty of water post-treatment.
The number of sessions you need is highly individual, however typically - for acute issues its normally 1-3 sessions, but chronic issues or illnesses typically need regular weekly/monthly sessions until symptoms improve.
Treatments are available at Bideford (Thurs & Fri) and Torrington (Mon, Tues). Please get in touch for a free 15-minute phone consultation and to book.
